§ 1. Whoever wishes to receive the Most Holy Eucharist should abstain from food and drink for at least one hour beforehand, except for water and medicine.
§ 2. A priest who celebrates the Most Holy Eucharist two or three times on the same day may take something between the second or third Mass, even if a full hour has not elapsed in between.
§ 3. Elderly people, the sick, and also those who care for them, may receive the Most Holy Eucharist even if they have eaten or drunk something within the preceding hour.
