France, Paris 1290

A man who denied the presence of Christ in the Eucharist stabbed a consecrated host, threw it into the fire and into boiling water—but it began to bleed, rose up, and took the shape of a cross. Finally, it settled in the bowl of a devout woman, who brought it to the priest. The perpetrator’s house was converted into a chapel, which housed the miracle until the Revolution.
