On the night of Pentecost, a fire broke out in the church of Faverney, destroying the altar and church furnishings. Yet the monstrance with the consecrated host remained unharmed—it hovered for three days above the ruins until it was solemnly recovered. The relic is still venerated by pilgrims to this day.
