Germany, Weingarten

Since the year 1094, a relic of the Most Holy Blood of Christ has been venerated at the Benedictine monastery in Weingarten. According to tradition, it reached the abbey via Mantua, Charlemagne, and various rulers, eventually being given as a gift. Every year on the Friday after Ascension Day, the “Blutritt” – the largest equestrian procession in the world – passes through the city with around 3,000 horses in honor of this relic.
