Belgium, Liège 1374

Saint Juliana of Liège had visions in which God revealed to her the lack of liturgical honor given to the Body and Blood of Christ. Her efforts led to the introduction of the Feast of Corpus Christi in her diocese in 1246. A few years later, Pope Urban IV elevated the feast to a solemnity for the entire Church—a day on which the presence of Christ in the Eucharist is solemnly and publicly venerated.
