Egypt, Sketis 3rd–5th centuries

A devout but misguided monk doubted the real presence of Christ in the Eucharist. During Mass, instead of the host, the Christ Child appeared, whose blood flowed into the chalice. Deeply moved, the monk confessed his faith—and the bleeding flesh turned back into bread. The account of this miracle is preserved in the wisdom of the Desert Fathers.
