France, Avignon 1433

When the Rhône River flooded the city of Avignon, water also entered the chapel of the “Grey Penitents,” where the Blessed Sacrament was exposed for adoration. Yet the altar with the monstrance remained completely dry—the water parted like walls on both sides. Hundreds witnessed the miracle, which is still solemnly commemorated every year on November 30.
